Mark Havener's "J350" Rocket Chili
By: Mark Havener, NAR #76868

Every now and then my family gets the idea that I can cook for
normal people. My beautiful wife, who comes from a very
multi-cultural background, does not understand how I can combine
foods the way I do and live.
The following recipe is for what I call "Rocket Chili" because I
started eating this for dinner the night before a launch for good
luck, and you will feel like you're sitting on the hot end of a J350
after this stuff has had it's way with you.
Here's the parts list:
- Two cans of your favorite chili
- One can whole kernel corn
- Three cups Cheese Tortellini
- 1/3 cup chopped onions
- Black Pepper
- Garlic Powder or Garlic Salt
- Salt (if you're not using Garlic Salt)
- Mrs. Dash seasoning
- Parmesan cheese
Put the chili in a pan and put on medium heat. Drain the can of
corn and add to the chili. Let the mixture simmer, stirring
occasionally.
Turn the heat down to low, continuing to stir. Add the chopped
onions. Add one tablespoon black pepper, two teaspoons garlic, a
sprinkle of salt. Stir well. Let simmer at very low heat for 5-10
minutes.
After adding the spices, fill a second pot with water, add olive
oil and bring to a boil. Add the tortellini and let boil for 3-4
minutes. Drain.
Put 1 cup tortellini on a plate. Sprinkle with Mrs. Dash and
cover with parmesan cheese to taste. Then add one cup chili on top.
Serve with milk, beer or lots of water. Serves three. |
